Overview
Eleven illustrations grouped into three strands. A Bauhaus-inspired geometric set explores how far a composition can be pushed with circles, triangles and three flat colours. A character strand covers portrait and narrative work. A nocturnal strand studies artificial light – neon, billboards, candlelight – and is where the thinking behind the 'Bring Back the Night' film began.
Deliverables
What was produced
- 01
Three geometric poster compositions in a shared flat-colour system.
- 02
Four character pieces spanning vector portraiture and narrative scenes.
- 03
Four nocturnal cityscapes studying artificial and natural light sources.
Approach
How it was designed
- 01
The geometric set is restricted to a fixed palette and a small shape vocabulary, so variety has to come from composition alone.
- 02
Character work stays flat and line-led, keeping the pieces reproducible at small sizes and consistent as a set.
- 03
In the nocturnal pieces, every light source is placed deliberately – the glow is the subject, not the atmosphere.
- 04
The three strands share a saturation range, which is what lets them hang together as one body of work.
