Overview
A 2D animated short made as a thesis project on light pollution. It follows a boy through a night he cannot sleep through: a phone in the dark, an over-lit street on the walk home, a skyline that never dims, and a morning he cannot stay awake for. The film ends on a presentation of three practical asks – shield streetlights, reduce screens, choose warm bulbs.

Approach
How it was designed
- 01
The colour script drives the story: cold blues and magentas for the over-lit city, warm amber only in the final scene, so the resolution is felt before it is stated.
- 02
Light sources are treated as characters – the phone, the streetlight, the shop window each intrude on the boy in a different way.
- 03
Backgrounds are kept flat and graphic so the animated figure always reads against a busy city.
- 04
The three asks are held back to the end card, letting the film argue emotionally before it argues practically.
